Booking reward travel just got easier.

American Express has announced the launch of a new Amex Travel App, available to customers starting Sept. 18. As a companion to the main American Express app, the travel app is designed to make it easier for users to book both reward travel with Membership Rewards points and regular travel. it will also assist with managing existing itineraries and provide streamlined access to partner travel websites.

In addition to booking flights, hotels, and rental cars, the app features a “Wishlist” function for future trips. Travelers can save favorite hotels or organize portions of an itinerary before booking.

The app builds on the company’s decades of travel expertise and offers destination inspiration, such as recommendations for top hotel restaurants or unique spa getaways, according to demo images shared from the new platform.

A spokesperson told Travel + Leisure that the app will launch on Apple’s App Store on Sept. 18, with an Android version rolling out “a few weeks thereafter.”

“Travelers want a simpler way to plan and book trips—all in one place—and the new Amex Travel App delivers just that,” American Express Travel President Audrey Hendley shared in a statement with T+L.

Hendley added that the app will provide destination inspiration for future trips, as well as the full booking and travel process without the need to log in through a desktop website.

The app also modernizes a traveler favorite. As traditional passport stamps begin to phase out and become less common, the Amex Travel App introduces virtual badges and passport stamps that commemmorate different trips and travel achievement.

Each digital stamp is designed to reflect its destination. For example, Australia features the iconic scenery from Uluru, while Costa Rica blends a mix of coffee beans with other landmarks.

“Part of the magic of travel is reminiscing about past getaways, and commemorative keepsakes are a powerful way for travelers to relive their favorite trips,” Amex Digital Labs Executive Vice President Luke Gebb shared in a statement with T+L. “As physical passport stamps continue to disappear, Amex Passport creates an opportunity for Card Members to celebrate their travels.”

American Express Card Members with access to The Centurion Lounge—a series of airport lounges operated by Amex—will also benefit from new app features, including access to waitlists and real-time estimated wait times, helping improved the overall airport experience.
