Hernandez sets school record for BP cross country team

Blooming Prairie junior Gloria Hernandez set a new standard for the Awesome Blossoms as the BP boys and girls cross country teams each took first place in BP Tuesday.

Hernandez took first place with a time of 20:20.1, which is a new BP school record, breaking the mark of 20:29.2 that Bobbie Bruns set in 2017.

The BP boys team also took first behind a strong effort from freshman Dante Williamson, who took 15th place as the team’s sixth runner.

BOYS RESULTS

Team standings: 1. Blooming Prairie 34; 2. WEM/JWP 37; 3. Medford 56

BP: Andrew Schwarz (sixth, 19:21.9); Mason Peterson (seventh, 20:00.1); Jeffery Bruns (ninth, 20:20.4); Justin Olsen (12th, 20:33.4); Isaac Fort (13th, 20:52.3); Dante Williamson (15th, 21:00.6)

GIRLS RESULTS

Team standings: 1. BP 27; 2. WEM/JWP 38; 3. NRHEG 78; 4. Medford 100

BP: Gloria Hernandez (second, 20:20.1); Haley McIntosh (third, 21:38.8); Sophia Esplan (fourth, 21:42.6); Evie Emanuel (eighth, 22:40.8); Bella Romeo (12th, 24:33.9); Raylee Miner (17th, 25:30.1)
