Earlier this month, the Duluth Police Department reported that at 12:25 a.m. on Friday, October 10, officers were dispatched after reports came in regarding a shooting in the 200 block of West 3rd Street.
Police officers arrived on the scene and found the body of a male who had been killed by an apparent gunshot wound. At that time, they were working on identifying the victim and asked for the public’s help in their investigation.
On October 14, they provided an update on their investigation.
Duluth Police Identify Victim In Recent Shooting
Police have identified the victim as 35-year-old Chazz Toney, while also noting that no arrests have been made, and this remains an active and ongoing homicide investigation.

Authorities have asked people living in the area of the crime to check their surveillance camera systems from the night of October 9 into the early morning hours of October 10, for any unusual activity.
Anyone with information that might aide in the investigation of this crime should notify the Duluth Police Department immediately by calling the Violent Crimes Unit at 218-730-5050.
