AT LEAST one person has died and dozens injured after an enormous tornado hit a French town.
The soaring twister also struck and collapsed three cranes as it tore through Ermont, northern Paris earlier today.
Dozens of residents have been evacuated from their homes to a local gym.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said he was monitoring the situation closely.
He also extended his support to the “elected officials, emergency services, and affected residents”.
Local authorities said four people have been seriously injured as cranes, homes, and other buildings were ransacked by the winds.
Some 80 firefighters, 50 police officers, and 20 medical crew have been deployed to support those affected.
Shocking footage shows the tornado raging through the small town knocking over two giant cranes in its path.
Roofs appear blown off and building materials strewn across roads.
Motorists have been urged to plan ahead as major transport disruptions have been reported across the area.
Meanwhile, around 1,200 homes have suffered electricity cuts after the wind tore down power lines.
The president of the Île-de-France, Valérie Pécresse, offered her “support to the affected communities”.
Nunez wrote on X: “A sudden and rare intensity tornado episode struck several municipalities in the Val d’Oise, causing the death of one person and seriously injuring several others.
“I am following the situation closely and express my support to the elected officials, the rescuers on site, and the affected residents.
“I extend my condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased victim.”
