HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines‘ 19-year-old daughter, Ella, is following in her parents’ footsteps and joining the family business in a brand new “Fixer Upper” series.
Chip, 50, and Joanna, 47, took to Instagram to show off their upcoming series, “Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House,” which hit TV screens Oct. 28.
In addition to showing off the projects they would be taking on, they also revealed that a special guest would be joining them—their daughter.
“This is our first out of Central Texas project. I want it to feel like something that I put together for my family.”
“Chip had an idea to have our daughter design the little cottage,” she said at the beginning of the teaser for the show.

The camera then revealed that their eldest daughter would be joining them along for the ride. As she said, “I’m accepting the challenge.”
The mom previously wrote about their decision to quit their popular show “Fixer Upper” in her blog, telling fans, “This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment. Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired, and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our business.”
The Gaines have kept their children mainly out of the limelight since 2018.
At the time, they noted that they needed to focus on their family.
Joanna previously opened up about life inside her Waco, TX, farmhouse during an appearance on the “Today” show, sharing a glimpse inside some of the tips and tricks that viewers will find on her new show, “Magnolia Table: At the Farm,” which she hosts with Chip.
The on-air renovations expert, who hosts the show inside her own dwelling, explained that one of the “weird” ways she tries to make the abode more appealing to visitors is keeping an array of treats on offer in her kitchen at all times—a tradition she said was started by a wedding gift she and Chip received in 2003.
“There’s a cake plate stand on the island that since I first got married—it was like the first year, I got it for a wedding gift, and it was empty,” she explained. “We had so many friends and family coming in, and I was like, ‘I need to start having something in there,’ so it was kind of a weird rule I made.”
To this day, Joanna said, she continues to keep the cake stand fully stocked with some kind of baked good to offer guests—or her children—whenever they want a sweet treat.

“The rule is just kind of always have something on the cake plate stand for the family or for guests,” she said.
However, she conceded that, after her two eldest kids moved out of the family’s abode to attend college, she ends up being the person who partakes most often.
“It’s really me now just eating the stuff, so that’s fun. It’s now for me,” she joked.
“Magnolia Table: At the Farm” marks a new chapter for the Gaines family, who had previously used a separate kitchen to film different installments of the series in a bid to preserve their own home as a safe haven.
To ensure that their family didn’t suffer too much disruption, Joanna revealed that she put in place some strict restrictions around when filming could take place—and how many people were allowed in their dwelling at a time during production.
Joanna also previously discussed how difficult it would be to have Ella move out of their home when she left for college.
“Ella, our second kiddo, she’s graduating this year. So we’re going through that again with another kid leaving the nest and trying to stay emotionally stable,” the mother of five explained, prompting Chip to ask: “Do you think this is going to be harder [than it was with Drake]?”
“Yes. I think there’s an emotional difference,” she conceded.
Because she and Ella tend to spend more time together during the day, she believes she’s going to feel a much bigger hole in her life than she did when her son moved out, Joanna explained.
“With Ella, we love to go to antiques shops, plant shops, and go get coffee—that’s our rhythm. I kind of feel like I’m losing a friend in my everyday life,” she said.
