A British woman who had flown out to Turkey for breast implants has begged followers on TikTok to pray for her as she got caught up in the terrifying 6.1 magnitude earthquake
A British woman who was visiting Turkey for breast implants has taken to social media to beg people to “pray for us” after experiencing a terrifying earthquake.
Courtney, who goes by the username @keepingupwithcourts on TikTok, posted a video to her account in the aftermath of the 6.1 magnitude earthquake which rocked the Balikesir region of the popular holiday spot. Opening her video, she said: “If everyone could please pray for us, there’s just been an earthquake, there is thundering and lightning.
“Literally the lightning looks like it’s going to hit the balcony door. Never in my life have I been somewhere where there’s been a f***ing earthquake.”

Buildings in Sindirgi collapsed with multiple people sustaining injuries as panic spread through the area. The earthquake was felt in Instanbul, more than 200 miles away.
“Apaprently it was a 6.2 earthquake, I don’t know what that means,” she continued. She said her friend had mentioned “there was a 6.1 earthquake previously and it brought buildings down and a person died.”
She went on to say: “So we’ve just had a 6.2 one, and you can’t even go outside or onto the balcony or open the door because the wind is so bad and the rain and the thunder and the lightning. And I don’t know how we’re going to fly in the morning because how a plane is even going to get through this s**t.
“Pray for us that we make it, because I’ve not just paid all this money to have my boobs done to die in an earthquake ok? And I do have another child to get home to so please may your thoughts and your prayers be with us.”
Courtney has documented her journey of travelling to Turkey to get the surgery with her followers on TikTok, with her first video showing her travel to Turkey racking up more than 100,000 views. The mum flew into Istanbul, and after her surgery she took to TikTok to share an update of her chaotic travel journey that saw her going straight to hospital for her pre-surgery consultation after getting off the plane.
The earthquake hit at 1.048pm local time (7.48pm GMT) last night, at a depth of 5.99km (3.72 miles). Several aftershocks followed the earthquake with at least three unoccupied buildings and a two-story shop collapsing in Sindirgi, according to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Structures had already been damaged in a previous earthquake, which had killed one person. Last night’s quake saw a total of 22 people injured due to ‘panic-related falls’, which can happen due to the physical and psychological impact of the earthquake.
“So far, we have not identified any loss of life, but we are continuing our assessment,” said Sindirgi’s district administrator Dogukan Koyuncu. After the earthquake, many people stayed outside, too scared to go back to their homes for fear of buildings collapsing.
Stormy conditions means mosques, schools and sports halls were opened up to allow those who were too scared to return home a place to shelter. Turkey sits on top of major fault lines, meaning earthquakes are frequent – with the last one in August proving fatal.
