THIS is the gobsmacking moment a Chinese restaurant’s huge fish tank bursts open – swamping the dining room with torrents of water and live seafood.
Astonishing footage shows unsuspecting staff going about their day before the plastic cage breaks – flooding the restaurant and unleashing a chaotic swarm of fish.
The jawdropping clip was recorded in Fuzhou, in China’s Fujian province.
In the extraordinary video, a back of house employee speaks to a colleague, seemingly pointing to the bottom corner of the tank.
As one of them goes over to investigate, he leans over to inspect the huge fish cage.
Just moments later, the massive see-through container busts open – before streams of water start gushing out.
As the floodgates open, live fish are sent darting along the current and into the dining area.
The two startled staff members become trapped behind a panel of the tank as they become submerged in fishy waters.
Even after the initial burst, water continues to pour out into the restaurant as another tank’s hole starts leaking out liquid.
In footage taken from the dining hall, waiters can be seen working across the restaurant just seconds before the deluge.
In an instant, water comes rushing in from the fish tank room in what looks like a mini tsunami.
Even more shocking are the live fish – which are seen flapping along as they are pushed out with the water and into the dining room.
Some start to pile up at the end of the room while others swim around in the new shallow seabed.
Customer start to stand up when they realise their lower halves have been soaked in water.
They get up and stand on their seats as the entire room is flooded with fish and water.
Panicked kitchen staff also come out to see the fishy mayhem – with some looking stunned by the new aquarium display.
The breathtaking clip was recorded on October 15, with reports saying the large tank had been newly installed and burst suddenly.
The restaurant owner said all customers were allowed to leave without paying after the incident.
The viral clip left social media users mocking the restaurant and joking how “fresh ingredients will swim over by themselves”.
In 2022, shocking footage showed an escaped buffalo bull ramming into a restaurant and smashing into a customer in China – tossing him into the air.
The crazed beast reportedly fled from a nearby butcher’s where it was to be slaughtered.
