Television’s biggest night has arrived, with some stars dazzling fans with high-fashion hits, while others are stirring up debate with riskier choices.
From Jake Gyllenhaal to Sydney Sweeney, some of Hollywood’s biggest names are walking the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. And while most of them are turning heads for the right reasons, others have opted for slightly more risqué looks.
For instance, fans weren’t convinced about TV personality Zuri Hall’s outfit, which had a seemingly unintentional latex-like appearance.
Meanwhile, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Bronwyn Newport — usually lauded for her Bravo-worthy style —left critics unimpressed with a gown that looked more ill-fitted than iconic.
Here are some of the most questionable looks from the 2025 Emmy Awards:
Michelle Williams

Sarah Paulson
Paulson attempted to play with textures as she wore a brown dress adorned with feathers that made her appear more bird-like rather than elegant (Getty Images)
Kristen Bell
Bell sported a similar look to that of her ‘Nobody Wants This’ co-star, Justine Lupe, featuring a gown with cheap-looking sequins. But adding insult to injury was the criss-cross black top with cut outs that did not match the rest of the gown (Getty Images)
Kaitlyn Dever
‘The Last of Us’ star’s disjointed look featured a black crop top and skirt accompanied by a floral cropped jacket embellished with sequins (Getty Images)
Uzo Aduba
Aduba, nominated for her role on ‘The Residence,’ did not nail the asymmetrical look. The square neckline could have worked better with a more tapered skirt instead of a puffy one (Getty Images)
Jenna Ortega
Ortega, known for her role in Netflix’s ‘Wednesday,’ wore Givenchy to the ceremony. She received mixed reviews for the mismatched, bejeweled top that left little to the imagination (Getty Images)
Adam Scott
Scott, nominated for his role in ‘Severance,’ attempted to channel an old-money aesthetic with a navy jacket over charcoal-colored trousers. But he opted for suspenders to hoist up the trousers that made the whole look feel disjointed (Getty Images)
Aimee Lou Wood
Wood, nominated for her role in ‘The White Lotus,’ wore an Alexander McQueen gown that, while well-tailored, left people wishing the entire dress was the same pop of red color featured at the top (Getty Images)
Jenny Slate
Slate, ‘Dying for Sex’ actor, left viewers confused in her Rosie Assoulin gown that had a giant red flower in the middle of her chest and an asymmetrical sheer bottom that trailed awkwardly to the side (AFP via Getty Images)
Kathy Bates
Bates, nominated for her role in ‘Matlock,’ stunned in an up-do and red lipstick, but many questioned the ‘muddy’ color of her dress as well as the fit (AFP via Getty Images)
Britt Lower
Lower, nominated for her role in ‘Severance,’ left people questioning whether or not her burnt orange Calvin Klein gown had a distinct pattern or was simply left unironed (Getty Images)
Jennifer Coolidge
Coolidge is no stranger to a black dress while walking red carpets, but this one missed the mark. Her strapless gown had a puffy top that lacked shape, in addition to originality. Paired with long black gloves and a black handbag, it was difficult to tell where the dress ended and Coolidge began (Getty Images)
Chase Sui Wonders
Wonders, the ‘Generation’ actor, appeared on the Emmys red carpet in an understated black off-the-shoulder Thom Browne gown, which left much to be desired (Getty Images)
The back of the gown was tied up with multi-colored laces, which looked more like a shoelace than a corset (Getty Images)
Shannon Murphy
Murphy, an Australian film director, seemed to be going for some kind of animal theme as her pale pink gown with capped sleeves randomly had two multi-colored butterflies down her chest, with a matching boa that was distracting (Getty Images)
Krys Marshall
The ‘Paradise’ actor stunned in her strapless cream dress — until fans noticed the horn-looking design adorning her waist that distracted from the rest of the gown (AFP via Getty Images)
Justine Lupe
Lupe, an actor on ‘Nobody Wants This,’ showed up to television’s biggest night wearing a knitted halter-top gown with large sequins that contributed to the overall cheap-looking appearance of the outfit (Getty Images)
Ildo Damiano
Daminano, an Italian journalist, left red carpet viewers unable to figure out where to look. His neon pink double-breasted suit, adorned with feathers, and bright gold shoes, resulted in a too-busy look (Getty Images)
Zuri Hall
Hall, a co-host for ‘Access Hollywood’ on NBC, walked the red carpet in a strapless maroon gown accessorized with silver jewelry. However, while many women dressed up in satin dresses for the event, fans thought Hall’s dress had a latex-like appearance (AFP via Getty Images)
Bronwyn Newport
Although Newport is known for her bold fashion choices showcased on ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,’ her sheen gown, adorned with sequins, didn’t appear to be well-tailored, resulting in a cheap-looking fit (Getty Images)
Abdi, a ‘World News’ anchor, attempted to experiment with textures in her black strapless gown that appeared to have stripes of plastic material (Getty Images)
