An air quality alert due to Canadian wildfire smoke expired Wednesday morning in the Twin Cities, but it remains in place through noon in southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
Air quality will continue to improve across the state Wednesday, with central, western and northern Minnesota already in the moderate or good categories. The metro will enjoy sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s.

Thursday will be mostly dry and pleasant, though increasing clouds will arrive late ahead of a system on Friday. That system will bring scattered showers and a few storms, but no widespread soaking is expected.
The weekend looks cooler, with on-and-off rain chances.
