The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is asking local Iron Range governments for its money back after it disbursed funds intended for a statewide education fund. KAXE reports the mistake happened after the agency miscalculated mining revenue distributions. “The DNR gave $2.7 million to Range counties, municipalities and school districts that should have gone to a statewide education fund, with most of the overpayments occurring from 2022 to 2024.”

WCCO TV writes Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport officials have said the local impact of government shutdown-related delays has been minimal. “That’ll be put to the test for MEA weekend, when the number of travelers passing through Transportation Security Administration lines is expected to increase 19% compared to average.”
Prince will once again take the spotlight as the stage adaptation of “Purple Rain” gets set to debut in Minneapolis. MPR News explains “though ‘Purple Rain’ officially opens Nov. 5, audiences can get an early look when previews begin Oct. 16. These performances are fully staged but still part of the creative process, giving the production team a chance to fine-tune technical cues, tighten scenes and even rework parts of the script before opening night. … [The premiere] doubles as a pre-Broadway tryout.”
Minnesota Swifties will be excited to learn that a Maple Grove High School grad was a dancer in Taylor Swift’s latest music video. Bring Me The News reports “Taylor Sieve, a 2016 graduate of Maple Grove High School, recently revealed she was featured in Swift’s latest music video for her single ‘The Fate of Ophelia.’“
