Police officers in Minnesota are increasingly using generative AI to write reports based on body cam footage, according to KSTP. “Purchasing contracts obtained by 5 INVESTIGATES through a public records request show just a few of the top-20 largest police agencies in the Twin Cities – Brooklyn Park, Eagan and Bloomington — are paying for Axon’s AI suite. That package includes “Draft One,” the report writing software.”

The community of Warren — a small town nestled in the northwestern corner of Minnesota — is bucking national trends by keeping their newspaper afloat and locally owned, thanks to two women who teamed up to keep the area informed. “Kayla Kroll never planned to be a newspaper publisher. But after 15 years of working at the Warren Sheaf, owners Eric and Nancy Mattson suggested she buy the paper,” MPR News Reports. The Mattson family had owned the paper since 1886.

Plans for a massive data processing center in the works for a corner of Hermantown are just now reaching local officials in the surrounding areas. “Part of that may have to do with the nondisclosure agreements signed by officials with the city of Hermantown, Western Lake Superior Sanitary District, and St. Louis County,” Pine Knot News reports. “As the news reached neighboring communities, the Pine Knot sought reactions from officials who are suddenly in a position to have to confront the issue.

A beloved Twin Cities-born restaurant chain is making a comeback, 20 years after closing. “Marno McDermott and former Green Bay Packer Max McGee founded the chain in 1975, and the first location opened in Richfield, Minnesota, in 1976. At its height, Chi-Chi’s boasted more than 200 locations across the U.S.,” WCCO reports. “The reborn Chi-Chi’s is set to open in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, at 11 a.m. As of 8:45 a.m., reservations for opening day were fully booked.”
