Two-vehicle crash ties up 218 south of Austin Monday afternoon

A pair of vehicles were involved in a crash that tied up Highway 218 south of Austin for a time late Monday afternoon.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred at around 4:16 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Highway 218 and 29th Avenue SE and involved a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan.
Both were traveling northbound on Highway 218 when the vehicles collided at 29th Avenue SE.
The driver of the pickup truck was an 18-year-old male from Austin and the driver of the Caravan was a 74-year-old from Austin. More information will be released later Monday night.
There was no information available as to the extent of the injuries.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance responded.
