From Bring Me The News: “The Trump administration recently ordered U.S. Embassies to pause interviews for student visa applicants, deepening concerns at the University of Minnesota and other institutions that enroll thousands of international students annually, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in the process. … Fewer international students would have a significant impact on the U of M and other Minnesota colleges and universities – both in terms of revenue and the contributions and culture of the institutions.”

From MPR News: “Dry conditions remain firmly in place across northern Minnesota, according to this week’s U.S. Drought Monitor report. A changing weather pattern could bring much-needed rainfall to those drought-stricken parts of the state.

From the Minnesota Star Tribune: “Contractors were supposed to be hard at work this summer building drainage along the edge of the Canisteo Mine Pit, a complex of several former mines that threatens to flood this small Itasca County town [of Bovey]. But … the machinery is idle.”

From Valley News: “It’s lake season in Minnesota, and starting July 1st, 2025, there’s going to be a new boating safety law. … Starting July 1st, 2025, adults, anyone 12 and older, and youth who operate motorboats, including a personal watercraft, will have to get a valid watercraft operator’s permit.”

From KARE 11: ATV riders can hit the state’s 3,000 miles of trails without paying the usual registration fee on June 14–15, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced Thursday. … The annual “No Registration Weekend” waives the $60, three-year additional registration fee required for in-state riders using their ATVs on public trails. Out-of-state riders can also explore the trails without purchasing the required $31 nonresident ATV trail pass.
