Actor Glen Powell is a regular on the sidelines of Texas Longhorns games, but even when he’s not able to cheer the team on in person, he has found a way to ensure the squad has a constant presence in his life—by decorating his home in its honor.
Powell, 37, who was born and raised in Austin, TX, is a lifelong Longhorns fan, and his support of the team only grew after he enrolled at the University of Texas.
Although he dropped out before graduating to move to California and pursue his acting career, the “Anyone but You” star’s dedication to the college team has endured, so much so that when he opted to leave Los Angeles and return to Texas, the Longhorns were front of mind where his home decor was concerned.
Speaking to Texas Monthly for its November 2025 cover story, Powell revealed that his $4 million property is littered with nods to the team, including Longhorns-themed doorbells and a bathroom decorated in the colors of the college squad.
“It’s kind of domed, with orange and white tiles. It’s sick,” he said of the space.

Another unique touch found in Powell’s home is one that marries his love of the Longhorns with his successful acting career: a table that is made out of the grille of his “Twisters” character’s truck, which he has also overhauled to match the team’s color scheme.
Having left UT before his graduation, the actor says he looks back fondly on the semesters he spent there, describing them as “the greatest year of my entire life.”
And while he was eager to pursue an on-screen career, he admitted that leaving the city he had called home for much of his life to relocate to Los Angeles was anything but easy.
“I’m going to leave this place I’ve always dreamed about going to, to be a struggling actor in a town where I know nobody,” he recalled thinking when he left the university.
Luckily, Powell’s ties to UT have remained strong—and he recently reenrolled at the college, where he is completing online classes for the Radio-Television-Film program.
He originally hoped to graduate by spring 2025, but admitted he has now pushed that back to spring 2027, a move that he previously noted caused him some stress.
“The problem is I told somebody that I was taking classes, and now there’s this ticking clock,” the actor recently told Jimmy Kimmel.
Powell’s $4 million home is located in the Barton Creek neighborhood of Austin. He snapped it up with the intention of transforming it into the perfect pad to watch football.
“My house in Austin, pretty much every square foot is designed around how to maximize Texas football-watching parties and college football game days.
“So I have a state-of-the-art barbecue system, so people are going to be eating very well and eating a lot of Smash this fall, when hopefully Texas wins a national championship,” he previously told People.

The dwelling spans 5,764 square feet and comes with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a guesthouse.
There is also a chef’s kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances. Outside, there is a large entertaining space and a resort-style pool.
Before moving back to Texas, Powell spent 15 years in Los Angeles.
Speaking about his decision to return to his roots, he said, “My life and career so far, it’s never felt right unless I’ve had my family along for the ride. So I think the fun part for me is that I have my mom and dad there, both of my sisters and their families, and it’s just been really special being back around the family.”
He added that it “just feels comfortable and right.”
The Hollywood star noted that it’s extra special because he gets to be around his family.
Powell also had a helping hand in the form of fellow actor—and Texan—Matthew McConaughey, who also relocated back to the Lone Star State with his family after a successful run in Hollywood.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter in 2024, Powell revealed that McConaughey’s advice about finding a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the film industry gave him the push he needed to recommit to life in Texas.
“He’s like, ‘Hollywood is the Matrix, man. You plug in and it’s all fake world.’ He’s like, ‘Then I go to Austin, and I unplug. It’s all real. Those are my friends, that’s my family, my actions matter there,'” Powell recalled of the words of wisdom the “How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days” star gave him.
“And he’s right. If you’re here [in Hollywood], you live in the Matrix all the time. There’s no separation of those worlds. And for me, especially as my parents get older and my niece and nephew are growing up, I want a separation of those worlds.”
