The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Travis Adams from Triple-A St. Paul.
Adams, 25, has appeared in 13 games (2 starts) for the Saints this season, going 3-1 with a 3.43 ERA (42.0 IP, 16 ER), three saves, 10 walks, 37 strikeouts and a 1.14 WHIP. The 6-foot-1, 213-pound right-hander has spent parts of five seasons in the Twins minor league system, going 18-29 with a 4.42 ERA (380.2 IP, 187 ER), 116 walks and 363 strikeouts in 88 games (72 starts). The Palm Springs, California native was selected by the Twins in the sixth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of California State University, Sacramento. Adams is ranked by MLB.com as the club’s 21st-best prospect and eighth-best pitcher.
To make room for Adams on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned left-handed pitcher Kody Funderburk to St. Paul. Funderburk, who was in his second stint with Minnesota this season, recently appeared in seven games, allowing eight runs on 15 hits, with four walks and four strikeouts.
Adams will be in uniform for tonight’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Target Field, will wear uniform number 45, and is looking to make his major league debut.
