MEA weekend gives a lot of Minnesota families a long break, and the Twin Cities have plenty going on. These are our picks for Friday, Oct. 16, through Sunday, Oct. 18.
Schmidt Fall Art Crawl, St. Paul (free)
More than 80 resident and guest artists open their studios inside the historic Schmidt Brewhouse at 900 W. 7th St., St. Paul. Swingposium at CSPS Hall
San Jose Taiko’s immersive show mixes taiko drumming, jazz and swing dance to tell how young Japanese Americans kept their spirits up while they were held in WWII incarceration camps. Theater Mu and TaikoArts Midwest present it at CSPS Hall, 383 W. Michigan St., St. Paul. Shows are Friday at 7 p.m., then Saturday and Sunday at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are about $25–$40.
Twin Cities Horror Festival opens
The festival is in its 15th year and opens Friday at The Crane Theater, 2303 Kennedy St. NE, Minneapolis. Friday’s first shows start at 6 p.m., and the festival runs through Oct. 31 with horror theater, dance and cabaret. Ticket prices depend on the show.
Twin Cities Film Fest
Screenings continue at Marcus West End Cinema in St. Louis Park and Edina Mann Theatre. Showtimes vary throughout the weekend.
